Cook, Lennon and Dinner Parties

Cook, Lennon and Dinner Parties

Beatles epic was written and fuelled by happy evenings here

Location: 17 Church Row, NW3

Description: In September 1964, the late Peter Cook and his then wife Wendy and children, purchased and moved into this early Georgian terrace house that had already belonged to HG Wells.

As a new start in life, Wendy revamped and redesigned the house and soon became the host of many a legendary dinner party in the large basement kitchen.

With Peter at the head of the table and celebrity friends such as Peter Sellars, Lennon and McCartney, John Cleese, Willie Rushton, Eleanor Bron, John Bird, Cat Stevens, Michael Foot...amongst many others - many wonderful happy evenings took place were laughter took centre stage.

In fact, legend has it that The Beatles epic, 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds' was written with Peter in mind and his daughter of the same name, by John Lennon. Peter and John were great friends and had the same outlook on life, enjoy and worry later!
