A well-built Lion

A well-built Lion

Home to the then builders of Berkeley Square since 1752

Location: 1 Waverton Street, W1J 5QN

Description: Old pubs in London go together like 'a pie and a pint'...deliciously. And so to the 'Red Lion' in Mayfair.

With a rich heritage, it was built in 1752 (yep, an old one) and in former times was extensively used by the builders of Berkeley Square, Hill Street and Chorley Street. In fact opposite the pub is a timber clad building that was leased by Lord Berkeley to John Phillips who was master carpenter to the architect building the square .

Charming and historic, the public house is all quaint windows, wooden floors and antique decorations - this a pub not to be missed.
