London's Longest Pier

London's Longest Pier

A borough with a strange little name - definitely worth a visit

Location: Erith High Street, DA8

Description: Erith is a pretty average place in the London Borough of Bexley, the town centre has undergone a series of modernisations since 1961... But it has a secret...

Erith is home to the 'longest pier in London', which extends out into the glorious River Thames. Adapted from commercial to leisure use, and popular with anglers, the annual Erith Riverside Festival has also been held for a number of years in Riverside Gardens alongside the Thames here.

Erith is also the starting point for the LOOP (London Outer Orbital Path) and one of the starting points for the Green Chain Walk.

So in conclusion - the borough with the strange little name is definitely worth a visit!
