Home to Keith Moon

Home to the legendary 'Who' drummer Keith Moon

Location: Tara House, Saint Annes Hill, KT16

Description: Keith John Moon was the drummer of the rock group 'The Who'. He gained notoriety for exuberant drumming and his destructive lifestyle that earned him the nickname, 'Moon the Loon'.

An so to this road and where Keith once lived - 'Tara House' - sadly Tara House is no more, the house was demolished and Vince Clarke (Erasure) now owns the site and has built his house and studio there.

Moon joined The Who in 1964, replacing Doug Sandom. He played on all albums and singles from their debut,1965's 'My Generation', to 1978's 'Who Are You', which was released two weeks before his death.

Moon died of an overdose of Clomethiazole (Heminevrin). The medication was a sedative he had been prescribed to alleviate his alcohol withdrawal symptoms as he tried to go dry on his own at home.

Moon was cremated. His ashes were scattered in the Gardens of Remembrance at Golders Green Crematorium in London 1978.
