Little Green Street Protest

Location: Little Green Street, Kentish Town, London
Description: Little Green Street is a cute little cottaged street in Kentish Town, dating back to the 18th century. Most of the dozen houses were built in the 1780s, are Grade 2 listed, and both survived the Blitz and more than two hundred years of wear and tear from the generations who have raised their children in the narrow cobbled terrace.
Little Green Street was the inspiration for the The Kinks 1966 song 'Dead End Street' where they dressed up as undertakers. It was used as the backdrop to their iconic video for that particular song (see bottom of page for YouTube link with original video).
In 2009 Tom Conti headed up a local protest against a development of flats which would have necessitated countless large trucks and equipment being ferried down this tiny road every day.
The fight is ongoing.
