A House of Laughter

A House of Laughter

Charlie Chaplin and Max Wall shared a bathroom here

Location: Glenshaw Mansions, Brixton Road / Mowll Street, SW9

Description: Probably Kennington's best known theatrical product is 'Charlie Chaplin' who grew up in the area and launched his career at what is now the Coronet Cinema at the Elephant and Castle.

Indeed, Charles and Sydney Chaplin rented a flat here - at this very address - from 1906 to 1912.

Another famous comedian, 'Max Wall', was born at this address 'Glenshaw Mansions', on the corner of Brixton Road and Mowll Street.

That's quite a residence.
