Description: 'Twinkle' (born Lynn Annette Ripley, 15 July 1948, Surbiton, England) is an English singer-songwriter from the 1960's. Her most famous songs were 'Terry' and 'Golden Lights'.

She was born into a wealthy upper-class family in Surbiton, Surrey, the youngest daughter of a Tory councillor.

And it was at this school - 'Queen's Gate Girls School' in Kensington - that she attended alongside the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla Parker Bowles.

Her hit 'Terry' which reached number 4 in the UK in November 1964, and which was banned by the BBC for it's death based content, as pop myth has it, was based on a Sunday outing in the family Rolls when the 16-year-old Twinkle watched in wonder as a biker gang overtook her. Returning home she wrote 'Terry', her debut single on Decca, a hymnal pop ballad to a dead biker boyfriend.

Other alumni of Queen's Gate School include Nigella Lawson, actresses Tilda Swinton, Imogen Poots, Vanessa Redgrave, Jennifer Saunders, fashion designer Trinny Woodall.
