Once Tony Visconti's Studio
The Smiths recorded 'Sheila Take A Bow' here in 1987
Location: 59 Dean Street, Soho
Description: In 1976 producer Tony Visconti - the man behind many of Marc Bolan's 'T-Rex' hits as well as those of the thin white duke 'David Bowie' - took over the lease of Zodiac Studios at 59 Dean Street Soho London in what had originally been a film studio in the 1950s.
The original 16 track studio located in the basement of the building was rebuilt and re-equipped as a 24 track.
It was then renamed 'Good Earth Studios'.
Tony Visconti also produced the fabulous Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy here.
Morrissey and Marr had hoped that Visconti would take on production on 'The Queen Is Dead' and the single 'Panic' - alas it was not to be.
But under Stephen Street, they did record 'Sheila Take A Bow' here back in 1987 - happy days!
