Description: Famously, the 'Stoke Newington 8' were arrested on 20 August 1971 here - at 359 Amhurst Road for suspected involvement in The Angry Brigade bombings.

They were a small British militant group responsible for a series of bomb attacks in the year previous, designed to maximise media exposure to their demands while keeping collateral damage to a minimum.

They were prosecuted in one of the longest criminal trials of English history lasting from 30 May to 6 December 1972. John Barker, Jim Greenfield, Hilary Creek and Anna Mendleson received prison sentences of 10 years.
