A Big Night Out at the Albany

Michael Grade got in first and signed up Vic & Bob here
Location: Douglas Way. Deptford, SE8 4AG
Description: 'Vic Reeves Big Night Out' was a cult British comedy stage show and later TV series which ran on Channel 4 for two series in 1990 and 1991, as well as a New Year special.
It marked the beginnings of the collaboration between Vic Reeves (real name Jim Moir) and Bob Mortimer and started their Vic and Bob comedy double act.
So how did it all happen?
Well after a pub run at The Goldsmiths Tavern in New Cross, Vic and Bob took it to this theatre, 'The Albany Empire' in Deptford.
And it was not long that people got talking and the Big Night Out became the talk of the town - indeed the BBC's Alan Yentob and Channel 4's Michael Grade soon turned up to take in the madness.
And Michael eventually secured their services and took Big Night Out to Channel 4, starting a comedy partnership that will go down in comedy history!
