Soane's Pitzhanger Manor
Splendid Ealing Georgian manor house once owned by Soane.
Location: Walpole Park, Mattock Lane, Ealing, W5 5EQ
Description: Pitzhanger Manor House was owned from 1800 to 1810 by the acclaimed architect John Soane, who radically rebuilt it. Soane intended it as a country villa for entertaining and eventually for passing to his elder son. The original parts of the house date back to around 1674.
In the late twentieth century, an extensive restoration of this Georgian gem returned much of the building back to Soane's design.
Today the Grade I listed house is now a showcase of Soane's design and also hosts exhibitions and events for visitors.
The architectural treasure sits within 12-hectare Walpole Park and can be seen in cinematic gems such as film The Importance of Being Earnest, TV's Doctor Who and Kavanagh QC.
