Colosseum of Regent Park
Cambridge Gate, once the place of England's Colosseum.
Location: Cambridge Gate, Regent's Park, London
Description: At the South East of Regent's Park is where the old Colosseum once stood, a vast circular exhibition hall with a glazed cupola and a massive portico designed by Decimus Burton, at that time the largest building of its kind in the country.
It was used for exhibitions and super panoramas, but after a time it went out of fashion as a place of recreation and in 1875 the building was pulled down and Cambridge Gate, a terrace of first class houses replaced it.
