English Heritage say it now has over 130 listed tombs, memorials and mausoleums, eight of which are grade II. So many great people lay here including Isambard Kingdom Brunel (1806-1859), daredevil Emile Blondin, authors Wilkie Collins (1824-1889) and William Makepeace Thackeray (1811-1863), and scientist Charles Babbage (1791-1871).
Notable cremations here include singer Freddie Mercury and actress Ingrid Bergman.
Kensal Green Cemetery is also the scene of one of the most unfortunate deaths in London history when in 1872 pallbearer Henry Taylor slipped and was killed by the impact of the heavy wooden coffin striking him.
