Description: Crooner Max Bygraves was born here on 16 October 1922 in Swan Lane Buildings in Rotherhithe Street, weighing a hefty 9 lbs 6ozs. He was the second son of Henry and Lily Bygraves, and was named Walter William Bygraves. As a young lad he would impersonate Max Miller and the nickname stuck.
