Sex Pistols lived here

Sex Pistols lived here

The legendary punk band Sex Pistols lived and rehearsed here.

Location: 6 Denmark Street, London

Description: Legendary punk band Sex Pistols lived and rehearsed here during their brief year in music perfecting the sounds of Punk anthems like Anarchy in the UK and God Save the Queen punk. Glen Matlock found the flat in an advert in Melody Maker magazine and he and Steve moved in initially.

There used to be a little Greek bookshop out the front which is now long gone, and left Denmark Street because they couldn't afford the measly 4 weekly rent.

Tagged in this Tour: Libertines, Oasis, Alcohol.

Graffiti found here in 2011 after wallpaper was removed was written by Sex Pistols frontman Johnny Rotten in 1975 when they lived here. After their landlord decorated Rotten thought hed add his own touches, and it is said now that they may be of greater significance than the discovery of early Beatles recordings. Rotten, born John Lydon, drew on the walls of the bands London flat in 1975 after disliking a recent redecoration. A paper in the journal Antiquity is suggesting the flat is an important historical and archaeological site. (Pistolette Pete)
