Beatle Paul McCartney and Linda Eastman got married here on the 12th of March 1969 while fellow Beatle Richard Starkey (Ringo Starr) and Barbara Goldbach got married here 12 years later on the 27th of April 1981 (four months after John Lennon's murder). Liverpool's favourite TV presenter Cilla Black married Bobby Willis here in 1969.

In 1997 Oasis' Liam Gallagher secretly married actress Patsy Kensit here.

Comedian Tony Hancock married his mistress Freddie here on 2nd December 1965.

On Valentines day 2008, the 14th of February, Liam once again tied the knot at the register office, this time to his girlfriend of eight years, Nicole Appleton.
