John & Cynthia's Original Pad

The Lennon's once lived here before fans took over their lives

Location: 13 Emperor's Gate, Knightsbridge, SW7

Description: It was here in 1964, August to be exact that 'John & Cynthia Lennon' finally tired of the Beatle fan frenzy that was talking the country...and soon to be world by storm.

After constant intrusions from fans to this address they started house-hunting and soon settled on Kenwood, a Tudor-style house in Weybridge, Surrey. With twenty-seven rooms and at a price-tag of 20 thousand pounds, the realisation of what being Beatle meant I'm sure started to kick in!

In fact the stardom had already come to light a few months previously, just after completing their first feature film, 'A Hard Day's Night', The Beatles toured Australia for the first and only time, in June 1964. Just like the film, Beatlemania was at its height, giving all concerned little time for rest - a blur of planes, cars, hotel rooms, interviews, crowds, screams and concerts.

Having completed shows in Denmark, Holland and Hong Kong, The Beatles 27-day 'world tour' headed for Australia and more fun-loving madness!
