Location: 161 King's Road, SW6
Description: During the 1970s the Beatles really could do little wrong - their incredible talent had opened up many doors in the previous 5 years and with such creative minds, the sky seemed to be the limit!
Or the New King's Road...161 to be exact.
Indeed on this spot on May 22 1968, the Fab Four opened another retail outlet - 'Apple Tailoring, Civil and Theatrical' - which was run by John Crittle, a twenty-five-year old designer (a renowned maker of rock clothing, counting the Beatles and Stone as clients).
With John, Yoko Ono, George, Pattie in attendance, George perfectly coined the time, the shop and this venture whilst commenting to the New Musical Express... 'We bought a few things from him (Crittle) and the next thing I knew, we owned the place'.
Class...
It lasted less than a year, but still...
