Steve Marriott's Party House
The Small Faces party house as rented by Don Arden.
Location: 22 Westmoreland Terrace, Pimlico
Description: This is the Georgian Townhouse where Small Faces front man Steve Marriott lived in 1966 and held some massive celebrity-filled parties. Marriott was just 18 years old when he moved in.
Music producer Don Arden paid the band a wage of twenty pounds a week each, along with accounts in clothes shops in Carnaby Street. Then on Boxing Day 1965, Arden arranged for them to move into this rented house.
In his autobiography, Ian McLagan describes the house as party central, a place where the likes of Marianne Faithfull, Brian Epstein, Pete Townshend and other celebrities would hang out.
Though Kenney Jones refused to leave his parents in Stepney at that point, he played along for the photo-shoots for teen magazines such as Fab 208, which showed them all opening Christmas presents together and so on. Many of their songs from this period were written here.
Brian Epstein had his first LSD trip here when he visited during a spell of depression.
They had an Austrian housekeeper called Liesel who later became housekeeper for Ronnie Wood.
