Description: The Latymer School is a selective grammar school for boys and girls aged 11 to 18. It was founded in 1624 when a City merchant Edward Latymer bequeathed certain property to trustees on condition that they were to clothe and educate eight poore boies of Edmonton.
The trustees are under a duty to carry out the provisions of his will unto the end of the world.
The Old Latymer on Church Street closed in 1909. Friday 24 September 2010 commemorated the 100th anniversary of the move of The Latymer School to Haselbury Road.
Notable former pupils include TV presenter Bruce Forsyth, director Tim Pope, Fulham footballer Johnny Haynes.
Attendee's who went on to music fame include B.J. Wilson (Procul Harem), James Blake, Jay Sean, Harry McVeigh, and Jack Lawrence-Brown (White Lies).
