Dingwalls
One of Camden's biggest live music venues.
Location: Middle Yard, Camden Lock, Camden, NW1 8AB
Description: Dingwalls is a unique 500-capacity music venue in the heart of Camden dating back to 1973.
Blur got maced here in one o ftheir first gigs as security at Dingwalls got frustrated the bands drunken antics.
The Stranglers mentioned the club on their early single 'London Lady', with the first lyric 'Little lady, with Dingwalls bullshit'.
Acts also to have played include The Stone Roses, U2, The Drifters, and the Foo Fighters.
Dingwalls is named after it's former proprietor T.E.Dingwalls Timber Yard. Timber was unloaded from large river barges to the small narrow boats that plied the inland canals of Britain. As more efficient forms of transport grew the canals began to decline, and the site closed in 1971 and the yard was first leased out that year.
