Description: Built in 1735 as part of the original redevelopment of the area by Edward Shepherd (after the original May fair was moved to Bow in 1686), 'Shepherds Tavern' is a handsome feature in the Shepherd Market landscape. One of London's proper boozers...indeed real ale is there, plus bar food and a one armed bandit!

And so to the 1950 Alfred Hitchcock chiller 'Stage Fright'.

Eve Gill (Jane Wyman) downs a brandy with DI Wilfred 'Ordinary' Smith (Michael Wilding) in this very pub!

Thia British crime film directed and produced by Alfred Hitchcock, finds a struggling actress trying to help a friend prove his innocence when he's accused of murdering the husband of a high society entertainer.

Alfred Hitchcock's cameo is a signature occurrence in most of his films. In Stage Fright he can be seen 39 minutes into the film as a man on the street turning to look at Eve as she rehearses her scripted introduction speech to Mrs. Inwood.
