Woolwich Town Hall
The magnificent Victoria Hall is a must for Open House events.
Location: Wellington Street, Woolwich, SE18 6PW
Description: Woolwich Town Hall was designed by Alfred architect Brumwell Thomas and formally opened on 13 January 1906 by Will Crooks MP and blessed by the local Bishop.
This is classic Edwardian baroque splendour with a huge clock tower and the magnificent triple-domed Victoria Hall.
It also features a grand staircase and some fine stained glass windows by Geoffrey Webb of notable Woolwich events in history including the visit of Charles I to see his great ship The Sovereign of the Seas in 1637.
Many exhibitions have been held here and mayoral meetings over the years.
Check out the great marble statue of Queen Victoria in the Victoria Hall.
