Description: Tragic suffragette Emily Davison was born here in Blackheath at Roxburgh House, Vanbrugh Park Road West on 11th October, 1872. It's thought it was replaced here by flats in the 1970's.
Emily and her sister were born here to Charles and Margaret Davison (both from Northumberland) before moving out to Essex within her first year here.
Emily was well educated and went on to become a militant activist who fought for women's suffrage in Britain. She was jailed on nine occasions and force-fed many times.
She is best known for stepping in front of King George V's horse Anmer at the Epsom Derby on 4 June 1913. She sustained injuries that resulted in her death four days later.
