The hotel that was here was famous for flush toilets & the Czar.
Location: Reed House, Piccadilly, London
Description: On the west corner of Bolton Street with Piccadilly used to stand Bath House, formerly the home of Lady Ludlow. It became the site of the Pulteney Hotel, a plush hotel in the 18th and 19th centuries and infamous for being one of the first to have flush toilets.
In 1814 the Czar Alexander I stayed here and greeted crowds from his balcony, the Russian Emperor taking time out to travel Europe following his glorious defeat of Napolean. Alexander was purported a few years later to have faked his own death.
