A Very Long Speech
Rt Hon Henry Peter Brougham - 6 Hour Marathon In 1828
Location: House of Commons, SW1A 0AA
Description: Over the years there have been many speeches performed in the House of Commons but none more tedious than in 1828.
In February of this year the Rt Hon Henry Peter Brougham spoke continuously for 6 hours on the ideals of Law Reform.
This brilliant lawyer did more of the same in the House of Lords when he performed another 6 hour marathon fuelled throughout by generous draughts of mulled port, finally falling to his knees and lifting up his voice in prayer. What a guy!
