Eisenhower HQ en suite
General Eisenhower bedded down here in World War II.
Location: Park Lane, 51.50729
Description: The Dorchester has become a 'home away from home' in London for many of the world's Heads of State, celebrities, and industry leaders.
But bizarrely during World War II it took on a very different purpose - it became the London HQ for General Eisenhower or 'Ike' as he was known to close friends.
In fact he served as Supreme Commander of the Allied forces in Europe, with responsibility for planning and supervising the successful invasion of France and Germany in 1944 & 45.
And from the photo it looks like he could have made a career out of 'gurning'!
