Description: The Grade II listed Dagenham Civic Centre was featured in the movie biography of Cole Porter called De-Lovely. It starred Kevin Kline as the American Composer, and they did a musical number here despite it supposed to be based in Hollywood!
The foundation stone of this impressive art deco building was laid by Lord Snell, Chairman of London County Council in 1936.
The architect was E Berry Webber in mulberry stockbrick with imposing Portland stone entrance and portico. Recently refurbished interior has excellent art deco ceilings and botticino marble stairs and foyer.
