Description: The Castle is one of Tootings oldest pubs dating back to 1832.
Upstairs in the seventies you would have found the Tooting Blues Club with gigs by many bands including Rod Stewart and The Faces, Free and Eric Clapton and also Mott the Hoople and Status Quo performed on the same night on 8th April 1970.
Status Quo's famous heads down stance was invented here in response to the stage being well above the audience.
Other entertainers also performed here including Danny Kaye & Peter Sellers.
It has also served as a TV location for Hugh and I and Citizen Smith.
American western film actor, director and producer, John Wayne is known for frequenting The Castle in the 1940s.
Refurbished in 2014.
