150 Not Out in Paddington
Isambard Kingdom Brunel, 150 years and a new name
Location: 8-9 London Street, W2 1HL
Description: Since 1983 this great London public house has been called the 'Sawyers Arms', but, for 150 years prior to this it was known as 'The Western Counties Tavern' when it was rebuilt in 1833
It was around this time that British engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel embarked on the huge task of connecting a railway from London to the Western counties. So who knows as this is Paddington...maybe he popped in for a pint...or maybe he didn't!
Still it's a quiet traditional pub serving real ales and traditional English food - superb!
