Bomb Crater Pond

The site of a massive WW2 bomb crater still in tact.
Location: Hackney Marshes, London
Description: This is a little known round pond in the marshes near Hackney and Walthamstow and right by the River Lea. Occasionally cattle drink from it.
It was created by the impact of a rocket launched by Artillery Regiment 3./902 on 11th February 1945.
The device did not achieve it's deadly aims and landed here resulting in a few broken windows in Hackney. The Latham timber yard across the River Lea was covered in thick black mud though!
