Regan once lived Here

Regan once lived Here

The immensely talented John Thaw lived here in his RADA days

Location: 9 Highbury Crescent, N5

Description: It was here in 1959 that an up and coming Mancunian actor atteding RADA stayed whilst learning his trade.

John Thaw was lucky enough to be invited into the home of Vic Symonds and Terry Bicknell, both a success on the TV industry with Terry later marring Rita Tushingham of 'The Leather Boys' fame.

John's good friend Tom Courtenay persuaded the two to let John join them with Vic soon realising his talent, forgetting about the rent and revelling in the two young actors whose talent would make the stars.

The legendary John Thaw went on to become a screen star in a range of television, stage and cinema roles, his most popular being police and legal dramas such as The Sweeney, Inspector Morse and Kavanagh QC.

Tom Courtenay came to prominence in the early 1960s with a succession of critically-acclaimed films including The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner (1962), Billy Liar (1963) and Dr. Zhivago (1965).
