Hattie's Mum Lived Here

Mum to the superb Hattie Jacques lived here

Location: 54 Waterford Road, off Kings Road, SW6

Description: Hattie Jacques was a monumental star of the Carry On series, usually cast as formidable hospital matrons (at least four) or man-devouring predators whose affections were apt to strike terror in weak-kneed men.

She was on stage since 1944, often in pantomimes and revues, and on radio in ITMA (1948-49) and Educating Archie (1950-54).

She married and divorced (1949-65) actor John Le Mesurier.

And so to this spot...she bought this house as an investment but also for her mother who had relocated from Margate to be closer to her wonderful daughter.

And that is what Hattie was - in real life - she was the kindest of souls with a heart of gold who always looked out for others before herself. A real-life legend!
