Description: Alleyn's School is an independent, fee-paying co-educational day school and registered charity. Edward Alleyn was a prosperous Elizabethan actor and proprietor of taverns, bear-pits and three brothels, whose Rose and Fortune theatres rivalled Shakespeare's Globe. In 1619, he established his College of God's Gift (the gift of love) with twelve students which formed the basis of a boys school.

Former attendee's here include author C. S. Forester, golfer Sir Henry Cotton, newspaper editor Kelvin MacKenzie, designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, actor Jude Law and Pixie Geldof.

The school is also noted today for producing celebrated musicians including Florence Welch (Florence and the Machine), Jack Peate, Rich Fownes (Nine Inch Nails), Ed Simons (Chemical Brothers), Felix White (The Maccabees), Eddie Hardin (Spencer Davis Group).
