Description: This is where the cover photo from Ian Dury's debut album New Boots and Panties!! released on September 30th 1977.
Dury liked the the old-fashioned shopfront of Axford and Sons Ltd while he waited for a bus across the road. The photographer was Chris Gabrin. You can just see in the reflection the Woolworths sign, from the shop that was across the road from it!
The six year old boy in the picture is Dury's shy son Baxter, who was staying with him that week.
The store manager was delighted and the following week a sign appeared in the window We Sell to the Stars.
