The 100 Club
Top live music venue best known for punk's most infamous gig.
Location: 100 Oxford Street, London, w1d1ll
Description: Legendary live (mostly jazz) music venue since the 1940's, best known for Malcolm McLaren's 100 Club Festival in 1976 to celebrate the birth of punk.
Everyone who was anyone in punk was there, Siouxsie & the Banshees, the Clash, the Sex Pistols, the Vibrators, The Damned and The Buzzcocks.
The event was unfortunately marred by two acts of violence when a glass, reputedly thrown by then Banshees drummer and later Sex Pistols bass player Sid Vicious, shattered against a pillar during The Damned's set, blinding a young girl in one eye.
Vicious also notoriously attacked NME journalist Nick Kent with a bicycle chain at the same event.
