Description: After Blake dissolved his partnership as a print seller with James Parker in 1785 he moved to No. 28 Poland Street. Blake lived here until 1791, when he moved to Lambeth.
Blake and his wife, Catherine Sophia Boucher, had moved to Poland Street by Christmas of 1785. The residence was exceedingly narrow and backed onto a timber yard behind the garden.
While he was there Blake engraved the illustrations for Songs of Innocence, The Book of Thel, and Tiriel in 1789 and in 1790 he completed work on The Marriage of Heaven and Hell.
The house was rebuilt in the late nineteenth century.
