Description: This is where Dame Barbara Windsor grew up after moving from Shoreditch in 1939 when her father was called up to the army. Her mother's (Rose Ellis) parents and family lived here.
She was born in Shoreditch in 1937 the only child of John Deeks, a costermonger, and his wife, Rose, a dressmaker, and went to St Marys Infants School in nearby Lordship Road. She was evacuated to Blackpool during World War II.
The whole row of houses at this end of Yoakley Road was demolished after damage during the blitx in 1940/41.
