A Monastery and a Bard

A Monastery and a Bard

Named after a Dominican monastery and home to the great Bard.

Location: Blackfriars, EC4V

Description: In modern London, Blackfriars probably means one of a couple of things...travel links, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, the Great Fire of London...I'm sure there are loads more.

But, Blackfriars is actually named after a Dominican monastery that stood there until the 15th century, and, the 'great bard' Shakespeare once resided there.

Not only is the area a useful travel hub for all and sundry, but one can romanticise about days gone by and what once was.
