Once home to Sheila Hancock

Once home to Sheila Hancock

Her early years were spent living at this public house

Location: 105 Kings Cross Road, WC1X 9LR

Description: Sheila Cameron Hancock OBE is primarily known for her comic performances, but also for radio and theatre, and for being a jolly good sort!

Plus, she was married to the legend that was John Thaw - star of The Sweeney and Inspector Morse - who sadly passed away in 2002.

And so to this pub - it was here in 1933 that Sheila and family moved in as her father was a publican - and in which she enjoyed many a sing-song and perhaps got the performance bug.

As a traditional little boozer with an old fashioned air, it's a decent one and on a summer's day as the walls fold open to create an airy feel - pleasant even for the full-on King's Cross.
