The Globe Theatre

300 pounds is all it took to become part of theatre history
Location: 21 New Globe Walk, Bankside, SE1 9DT
Description: When Sam Wanamaker came up with the idea of creating the new Globe Theatre he came up with an idea to involve the public.
Anyone who donated 300 pounds towards the cost of building it could have their name inscribed on a flagstone in the courtyard.
The idea was upheld and people made donations.
There is even one with the name William Shakespeare on but I believe he is not related to the original playright.
