Description: Wessex Studios were created by Beatles producer Sir George Martin (who grew up here, on Drayton Park in Highbury).

The studios saw the recording of some of Britain's best-known albums created by bands including Queen, Genesis, and the Rolling Stones, through EMI.

This is where The Clash recorded London Calling in August 1979 - studios, converted from an old church between Islington and Stoke Newington with Bill Price and Guy Stevens.

It's where the Sex Pistols recorded 'Never Mind The Bollocks', and Johnny Rotten threw up into the piano and his dried vomit had to be painstakingly scraped off by some lackie.

Sadly that industry that existed has gone, the building is now a block of residential apartments called The Recording Studio.

1» After Johnny rotten vomited into the piano (I believe it was a Bosendorfer concert grand, many thousands of pounds worth), for some time the smell in the studio must have been pretty rotten! (Ewan O'Doherty)
