Queen Elizabeth Hospital
Famous old Hospital in Woolwich - famous for ghosts!
Location: Charlton Park Lane, Woolwich
Description: The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is located on Woolwich Common and was opened in March 2001, replacing the ageing Queen Elizabeth Military Hospital, dating from 1977. Before that it was Royal Herbert Hospital.
The hospital has a larger than normal collection of ghost and paranormal stories associated with it. One of the best was this:
One night in the early hours, one of ward 4's auxiliary nurses went to a smoking room for a cigarette. She had been enjoying her ciggie when she saw the huge smoky black shape of a person, drift through the wall to her left, move across in front of her, and then drift through the opposite wall.
Footballer Ian Wright was born in this hospital.
