Norman Wisdom lived here

This is where England's favourite clown Norman Wisdom grew up.

Location: 91 Fernhead Road, Maida Vale

Description: Everyone's favourite comedian and clown Norman Wisdom (19152010) was born to Frederick, a chauffeur, and Maud Wisdom, a dressmaker who often worked for West End theatres.

They lived here in one room and raised in severe poverty and he and his brother were allegedly abused by their father.

Norman once said I was born in very sorry circumstances. Both of my parents were very sorry.

Fellow Londoner Charlie Chaplin once referred to Wisdom as his favourite clown.

A blue plaque was unveiled here on Sunday 6th March 2011 by comedian Mike Read.
