Description: Thespian, stage and screen actor Derek Jacobi was born here in Leytonstone on the 22nd October 1938. The family remained here until after Derek had left home for Cambridge.
Jacobi has enjoyed a highly successful stage career, appearing in Hamlet, Uncle Vanya, and Oedipus the King.
He has twice been awarded a Laurence Olivier Award, a Tony Award, and a British knighthood.
