Ealing's Shoelace Inventor

Ealing's Shoelace Inventor

This is home of the inventor of the always tied shoelace!

Location: 17 Cantley Road, Ealing, London

Description: Peter Greedy, lives and works here - he is the brains behind Greeper shoelaces, which can never come undone and are of particular use to the disabled or elderly.

Mr Greedy, who is a qualified optometrist, said he had his 'eureka' moment in 2001 while driving up the motorway.

He said: I'm a father of three and like any parent I was frustrated at how my children's laces would keep coming undone and become frayed and tatty.

That's when I had my little lightbulb moment. When I got home I went into my shed and started working on it and made the basic prototype.

What followed was six years of research and development before a patent was finally issued, and now the product is finally picking up steam, with interest from numerous companies representing a range of age groups.
