The first ever UK McDonalds, and still going strong!

Location: Powis Street, Woolwich

Description: Today burger-chain McDonalds have more than 1200 stores open across the UK, but this is where their first UK branch was opened back in November 1974.

Back then their Cheeseburgers cost 21p and a quarter-pounder with cheese was just 48p! The Filet-O-Fish was then known as a a McMariner and cost merely 30 pence!

First day takings at Woolwich were an underwhelming 98!

Today the original store is still going strong - a long-term mainstay of Powis Street in Woolwich.
