The Aeronaut of Holloway

The splendid tomb to the pioneering Aeronauts of Holloway.
Location: Highgate Cemetary East, Swain's Lane
Description: This is the Grade II listed tomb of Charles Green Spencer, and a tribute to the aeronaut's of Holloway, who pioneered balloon flight from North London.
It is the tomb of Charles Green (1785-1870) who broke the record balloon flight from Vauxhall Gardens to Nassau in Germany, in 1936. It lasted for 70 years!
The memorial though is to Charles Green Spencer, son of one of Green's assistants, who was inspired by his namesake that he founded a hot-air balloon company.
