Arsenal's Old Ground
Once a footie ground, now a class place to live
Location: Off Highbury Park Road, N5
Description: Sunday, May 5, 2006 was an historic day at Highbury as the Arsenal Football Club said goodbye after 93 years to the famous old Arsenal Stadium.
And now...
'Highbury Square' is an exclusive and truly unique development of high specification apartments constructed within the grounds of Highbury Stadium, the former home of Arsenal Football Club.
Stunning apartments together with a number of exclusive penthouses are all part of the community, whilst retaining the charm and standards of a quality football club.
Plus its just a stones throw from the Emirates.
The stadium also hosted international matches, both for England and the 1948 Summer Olympics – and FA Cup semi-finals, as well as boxing, baseball and cricket matches. Henry Cooper fought Cassius Clay (later Muhammad Ali) here in front of 45,000 boxing fans.
Its presence also led to the local London Underground station being renamed to Arsenal in 1932, making it the only station on the Underground network to be named after a football club.
It has featured on film too, having been the backdrop for at least two movies: The Arsenal Stadium Mystery, and Fever Pitch.
